Support Feature 1: Fine-tune Function
The fine-tune function is a facility tool to allow the user to fine-tune the matrix until all required targets are met. This tuning function can shift the operation frequency up or down while expanding or narrowing the bandwidth by scaling the matrix. Within the tuning process, the designed centre frequency and bandwidth can be kept.
Example 1: Fine tune the frequency or bandwidth independently
- The frequency and bandwidth can be tuned independently by simply inputting either positive or negative shift values
- Note that this function is only suitable for the fine-tune application. For large shifting or tuning amounts, the RL may degrade.
Example 2: Fine-tune the filter performance for a single side
Most of the time a user may encounter a situation that the designed filter performance may only meet the RL or rejection at single side like the case above. The user has to spend longer to tweak the frequency and bandwidth until all specifications have been met.
The margins need to be kept for thermal shift purposes; therefore the rejection at the high and low side cannot meet the rejection requirement.
Step 1: Tune the bandwidth to allow one side to meet the specifications.
Step 2: Shift down the frequency while increasing the bandwidth to compensate for the frequency downshift (fine tune the low side, and the high side will be frozen)
